:: How Tattales Began ::
See my tattoo movie of me getting my 4th dragon (hip to knee). It runs about 30 seconds long with the sound of the needle included!

The three dragons resemble my stages of life thus far; the young b/w dragon in motion but with no real direction, then a second dragon with an ignorant presumption of wisdom beyond his years, now surrounded by a third vivacious full color spectacle that is ready for the experience, ready for the fight which will be life itself. I loved the outcome. This one was a bit more interesting, taking 9 hours, a 4 hour and a 5 hour session. I know for all future appointments, I will not be doing a 5 hour session again. I am thinking this was about 6 years ago so let’s say 1999.

Becoming my wife, I am no longer allowed to get tattoo work until she gets to spend some money on herself. I won’t mention what, but she had two of them and she wanted them bigger. I continued to read up on the Chinese and Japanese cultures with their integrated beliefs of dragons, their existence and power. Artists of other mediums would comment on my dragons, now that you have the power, you need the balance. They were exactly right, I had the power, but I was lacking a balance, an understanding of what I need to keep myself sane in this world. What could give me this balance? No need to look any further than what I have already researched, the gracefulness and beauty of the phoenix.

Ah ha, separation. Now on the way to my divorce..which if all goes well will be filed and sanctioned by the end of 2005. Ironically enough, I begin to find my harmony here, but without a significant other. The Chinese believe the phoenix and dragon signify the ying and yang, a unified harmony, a balance to power and grace. Back to Tom Beasley for a chat. Starting around February of this year, a phoenix was born. My left thigh now contains the multi-colored phoenix ranging from my hip to my knee. Gray clouds serve as a background to this two-tailed beauty. I am trying to add it all up, but I can recall at least 24 hours done in 3 and 4 hour sessions. Ahhh, balance! Well…
